PBS KIDS – Curious George

Curious George is a 2-time Daytime Emmy® award-winning animated series based on the popular books by Margret and H.A. Rey. It airs daily on PBS KIDS. Aimed at preschool viewers (ages three to five), the goal of the series is to inspire children to explore science, math, and engineering in the world around them.

As a writer and producer, I had the privilege of creating credit beds, along side senior producer Marisa Nalevanko and creative director Gordon Harris, to help maintain the audience viewership until the next show.

To write the credit beds, I aligned the educational objectives of the show with the PBS KIDS brand, to create something funny and educational, in a tone that was relevant to the preschool frame of mind.

I found that highlighting how animals use their tails for balance promoted both science and math. I also found that a child’s understanding of science in everyday situations like a plants need for sun, water and dirt to survive, would help in early childhood development.

Here are the final 30 second credit beds along with the scripts.

Note: Most scripts get reworked slightly in production.
